Pleasant Place’s mission is to provide a safe, nurturing environment for our teen mothers and their children. Because all our teen mothers are wards of the state due to abuse, neglect or homelessness, Pleasant Place has guidelines that all volunteers must adhere to.*

  • Volunteers will be required to (1) fill out a Pleasant Place, Inc. Volunteer Application Form and (2) participate in a personal interview prior to being considered for a volunteer position.
  • Volunteers will be chosen based on suitability for a given position without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin or sexual orientation.
  • Volunteers will be required to receive orientation and training prior to beginning their volunteer work.
  • Volunteers working more than 40 hours per month or who are not directly supervised by a paid employee must undergo a background check. **
  • Volunteers will treat staff and residents with courtesy, dignity and consideration. Child abuse, harassment and substance abuse will not be tolerated. Pleasant Place reserves the right to take disciplinary or termination action when necessary.

* The guidelines listed above are not all-inclusive. Once a volunteer has been accepted by Pleasant Place, he/she will receive a formal Volunteer Personnel Policy outlining all guidelines and policies.

** Background checks include the following: Affidavit of Good Moral Character, Local Criminal Record Check, Employment History Check, and Criminal Record Check through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The cost of background screening will be paid by the volunteer (approx. $37).
